What We’re Looking Forward To in Rainbow Six Extraction

Here's what we can't wait to check out in Rainbow Six Extraction.

Rainbow Six Extraction is coming next year, and we absolutely can't wait to get our hands on it. Previously known as Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Quarantine, it's a cooperative-centered PvE shooter that takes players and splits them into teams of three to fight off a terrifying parasite that resembles deadly black mold: the Sprawl. It could very well take over the world and completely eliminate humanity if no one successfully stops it in its tracks.

With that said, it's an exciting potential new addition that we can't wait to jump into when it finally debuts. Ever since it first made its debut in 2019, we've been patiently awaiting its arrival. As we round the corner to the end of 2021 and welcome 2022, we're feeling the hype even more than ever. And you can be ready for the game (and start growing your squad for when it drops) by picking up an Arctis 9 Wireless headset, which comes with a code for Rainbow Six Extraction. There's never been a better time to jump in, and we're about to tell you exactly why.

Cross-play co-op mode

Not enough games let you play together with your friends across consoles, and Rainbow Six Extraction is going to feature cross-play, which is awesome. You'll get to duke it out with another team with two other teammates and make progress together. You can do this no matter what platform your friends play on. That's another great reason to go ahead and pick up an Arctis 9 Wireless Headset, for both a great way to communicate with your team when the game drops and because it comes with free code for Rainbow Six Extraction. So if you don't need it and you want to invite someone to play, what better way to do so than with a free code?

Unique mission progression

You'll be able to work together with friends across missions comprised of three maps. At the end of each mission, you can make a decision as a team to keep going and pursuing more difficult enemies and get better rewards. It's a gamble you'll have to make, because dying means losing it all. This is a unique approach that we can't wait to see in action. It means that the decisions you make as a team will be extremely important, so you'll have to discuss things and work together to see if it's always worth moving forward for better loot. It may seem tempting, but as we all know, sometimes shiny things aren't worth losing game progress over.

Hanging with 18 Elite Operators

Rainbow Six Extraction will feature 18 Operators to play with, each with their own unique abilities. As part of REACT, these Operators all bring something new to the table. For example, Gridlock's mechanical and robotics systems expertise gives her the ability to set traps, damage enemies, and slow them down thanks to the gadgets she comes packing.

Here's who we know will be joining the game so far:

  • Gridlock
  • Nomad
  • Smoke
  • Ela
  • Sledge
  • Alibi
  • Lion
  • Vigil
  • Hibana
  • Doc
  • Finka
  • Pulse

We'll be learning more about who else to expect as we get closer to the game's launch in January, but this is an extremely stacked roundup of Operators to look forward to already. It's hard to see how Ubisoft could build on it further, but there's plenty more room to do so.

Building on Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Extraction is its own thing, but it will feature familiar elements from Rainbow Six Siege. That's a great thing, because it means Extraction will be simpler for new players to jump into and enjoy. You don't have to have been a Siege player to have fun with Extraction, but it will be great for newcomers to have a frame of reference going into the game. That should make for a more diverse crowd of opponents, which is exciting all its own!

Using the Buddy Pass

When Rainbow Six Extraction releases on January 20, 2022, you'll want to play with friends, right? We've already been over the free copy of the game you get when you buy an Arctis 9 Wireless Headset. But the Buddy Pass is a cool way to make sure your squad can get together. If you buy the game, you get two full Buddy Pass tokens. You can choose two friends to send invitations to while in-game, and they will let friends play with your squad for up to 14 days. Alternatively, if you don't own the game, you can download the trial version on any platform, then accept the aforementioned invitation to play for 14 days together! You'll need to buy the game after that, but by then it should more than have proven itself as worth picking up.

Rainbow Six Extraction is set to debut on January 20, 2022. We can't wait to get our hands on it, and we'll be forming our own Sprawl-slaying team as soon as we can. Who's with us?
