How to Save in NieR Replicant

Here's how to make sure you save your progress as you travel through the austere world of NieR Replicant.

NieR Replicant (also known NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139) is the newest adventure in the NieR saga. Though it's technically a re-release of a game that originally debuted 11 years ago in 2010, it's a been remade with new graphics, a new soundtrack, and several changes to bring it into the modern age. Many players likely jumped on board the NieR lore train with NieR: Automata, but NieR Replicant is an intriguing and heartrending adventure that's very much worth playing.

Like any challenging JRPG, the game will throw several different intriguing boss fights, grindfests, and plenty of dungeon exploration at you in quick succession. If you don't want to lose out on precious progress, you'll want to make sure you save your game as much as possible, unless you don't care to go back and retread old ground. Here's how you can save your game in NieR Replicant.

If you're ready to save your game after traveling in NieR Replicant, you're going to want to find a Post Box. Unfortunately, you can't save your game whenever or wherever you feel like it, as in some games. You'll have to seek out one of the Post Boxes, which act as save points. They look like tall brick structures with identifiable markings, though you can just check your map to find one, as they'll be identified with a blue circle.

When you find a Post Box, head on over and interact with it. You can save your game in one of three different save slots. Choose the one you'd like to save over, and wait for your save to complete. Your progress has officially been recorded! You've made a manual save.

You'll also want to keep an eye out for automatic saves in NieR Replicant as well. At certain points in the game, you'll receive special auto-saves. This might happen when you complete a main objective, trigger a boss fight, or otherwise pass a checkpoint. These saves will not be permanent, like the ones you make at Post Boxes, but they'll allow you chances to save your progress should you need something to fall back on.

Now you know how to save your progress -- be sure to take advantage of the save system and keep soldiering on! This is a very taxing game, and you'll want to keep at it until the very end.
