Everything We Know About Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

The next Call of Duty iteration is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and it's headed out this November. Here's what we know about it thus far.

Another year, another Call of Duty. It's the same story for 2020, even despite being in the middle of a global pandemic. The latest upcoming Call of Duty title is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, officially revealed near the end of August.

We're expecting to get our hands on the game come November across various consoles, but since that's still a little ways away, we've got all the information we could find about the upcoming game here to help keep you up to date.

Here's everything we know right now about Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

What is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War about?

From the debut trailer, we can ascertain that the game is a direct sequel to the original Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Cold War is set during the Cold War (obviously!) in the '80s. It takes place after President Ronald Reagan finds out about a Soviet spy named Perseus and then authorized a black ops mission led by CIA officer Russell Adler and his team to take care of Perseus.

Of course, this means Alex Mason, Frank Woods, and Jason Hudson will also be along for the ride, who you likely recall were in the other Black Ops title.

The player character is codenamed Bell and can be customized to your liking in terms of ethnicity, skin tone, genres, and personality in terms of special perks.

The game is said to be inspired by actual events and will take players across locations like Vietnam, East Berlin, Turkey, Soviet KGB's headquarters, and a variety of other places.

Interestingly enough, the campaign will include different endings depending on what players choose throughout the game.

Will Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War include multiplayer?

Yes, like every Call of Duty game before it, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will include multiplayer. Activision confirmed during the game's reveal presentation that it will include cross-generational support as well as cross-progression.

You'll be able to earn rewards as you make your way through the game via battle pass. There will be additional free updates with new maps and modes in addition to community events after the game releases.

Apparently, there will not be a dedicated battle royale mode and will be sharing progression with Warzone, so if you're already playing that part of Call of Duty, you'll see all of your levels and experience there.

Will there be zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War?

Though the original game reveal only touched on the potential of zombies briefly, they were confirmed to be coming back in this iteration of Call of Duty.

Unfortunately, there's nothing we know at this point about what kind of zombie-related content will be in the game or what kind of enemies or stages there will be.

This is definitely a topic we'll have to come back to as we inch closer to the game's release.
