Best GTA V Online Modes
Get into some online tomfoolery with these awesome GTA V multiplayer modes.

GTA V still has tons of awesome multiplayer modes. We’ll break down the best ways to play with your friends.
Looking for some multiplayer fun in GTA V? GTA V Online is still going strong. This is one of the best ways to pass time together with friends. The variety of sandbox-style modes in GTA Online makes it so that you can find your favorite new game mode easily.
Here’s a couple of great GTA V Online modes you can try to have a blast with your friends:
Sumo (Remix) — 2-16 Players
The clip above is from my personal collection; me and my WoW guildies frequently have a blast in Sumo from time to time (and let out all of our “toxicity”).
Sumo puts all players in teams, who get to pick from various car categories. Then, they get put on chosen maps (night modes available), which feature platforms suspended in the air. The goal is to end up inside a bubble at the end of every round, but the bubble gets smaller and smaller, and parts of the map disappear.
So of course, it’s all about pushing others out of the way and forcing them to fall off or be unable to make it into the bubble. There’s a good combo of driving skill, strategy, and some luck with physics, but tons of hilarious moments guaranteed.
Hasta La Vista — 4 Players
Imagine getting chased by huge trucks… while you’re on a bicycle. If you’re the cyclist, get from point to point without getting run over by those trucks.
Unfortunately, only four players, but maybe that’s all you need. This one is quite hilarious and is one of the more fun modes in GTA V Online. Great reference to Terminator 2 as well.
Land Grab — 2-16 Players
Run over tiles to make them your color. This mode is about covering as much terrain as you can with your team’s color. The more you have, the closer you are to victory. The top of the screen shows percentage ownership of the map by each team.
Oh yeah, and you also have an Assault Rifle, so you use that. There are also more weapon pick ups, such as shotguns and rocket launchers.
Various maps are available, so find one to your liking, but they all have a futuristic, Tron-like vibe.
Slasher — 2-8 or 4-8 Players
A bit of a horror twist on GTA V, this Halloween mode is pretty similar to Dead by Daylight. One Slasher, equipped with a shotgun, a flashlight, and a machete, tries to murder other players.
The Hunted are fairly helpless, with just a torch, so they will try to hide. However, after 3 minutes, the players get a shotgun, so they can fight back.
Whoever kills the Slasher will assume that role in the next round.
Roleplaying — Unlimited Players
Not quite a mode, but lots of people play GTA V to embody someone else. Whether you want to be a mafia mogul, just a simple henchman, a cop who chases down wrongdoers, or anything in between, GTA V stands open for you.
Just remember to be polite and stick to RP rules. You will use proximity voice chat for this, so make sure to pick up a great SteelSeries gaming headset to sound great.
You can get started on places like Grand RolePlay forums or similar.
